SUK offers a variety of services, products and projects such as: the management, recovery and disposal of hazardous and toxic liquid and solid wastes such as asbestos, the waste treatment/disposal of wastewater and sludges ,the management of transformers / capacitors containing PCB’s, and many more.

SUK was founded in 1995 to provide complete services and products in the field of management, recovery and disposal of hazardous waste.

SUK is able to provide innovative solutions to complex environmental issues. As the representative of many German and European companies, always within the European and national legislation structures, proposes technologically advanced solutions and contemporary services taking up the responsibility to protect the environment.

SUK operates to solve a range of environmental problems. The main areas where the company specializes, is the management of hazardous waste such as asbestos, the treatment / disposal of wastewater and sludge, the management of transformers / capacitors containing PCB’s (clophen, askarel etc.) as well as the decontamination and restoration of contaminated sites and land. Furthermore, the company has developed in the fields of chemical cleaning of large power plant boilers (PPC) and industrial facilities, environmental case studies as well as in the field of collection and disposal of oil residues.

SUK is certified with the quality assurance standard EN ISO 9001:2000 by an independent organization and is in the process of certification with the ELOT EN ISO 14001:2004 and ELOT 1801 standards. The company’s objective is to provide high quality products and services to its clients. At the same time, SUK cooperates and is a registered member of the international organization ARCA (Asbestos Removal Contractors Association) as well as of domestic organizations such as PASEPPE (Hellenic Association of Environmental Protection) and EBEA (Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

Τι εννοούμε όταν λέμε επικίνδυνα απόβλητα (τοξικά απόβλητα);

Με τον όρο επικίνδυνα απόβλητα (ΕΠ.ΑΠ) εννοούμε εκείνα τα απόβλητα που περιέχουν ουσίες που χαρακτηρίζονται ως τοξικές, εκρηκτικές, εύφλεκτες, καρκινογόνες, ραδιενεργές, ερεθιστικές και μεταλλαξιογόνες καθώς και κάθε ουσία που μπορεί να προκαλέσει αλλοιώσεις στα νερά (επιφανειακά ή υπόγεια), τον αέρα ή το έδαφος.

Τα πιο επικίνδυνα τοξικά απόβλητα είναι: ο αμίαντος, οι αρσενικούχες λάσπες, λάσπες με μόλυβδο, βαρέα μέταλλα, PCB’s (κλοφέν), διοξίνες από καμένα ορυκτέλαια, πεντοξείδιο του Βαναδίου, λάσπες με πετρελαιοειδή, λάσπες από ελαιουργεία, χλωροφθορουδρογονάνθρακες από απόβλητα ψυκτικών ουσιών, τα νοσοκομειακά απόβλητα, τα χρησιμοποιημένα ορυκτέλαια, οι συσσωρευτές μολύβδου και οι ηλεκτρικές στήλες, τα βιομηχανικά απόβλητα (κυρίως από τους κλάδους της μεταλλουργίας, της διύλισης του αργού πετρελαίου και της παραγωγής χημικών προϊόντων και λιπασμάτων).

The Quality Policy of SUK depicts the high efficiency in collecting, packaging and transportation of hazardous waste, environmental policy, research and development on environmental issues such as: new methods in the treatment and management of liquid & solid waste, new ways of producing energy, new technologies to reduce environmental pollution.

QUALITY, ENVIRONMENT AND HEALTH AND SAFETY AT WORK POLICY DECLARATION

1. Quality Policy

The Quality Policy of SUK complies with the requirements of EN ISO 9001: 2000, and is the cornerstone for achieving the objectives of the company, which are:

• Providing the customer specialist expertise services.
• Maintaining a high level of efficiency in the management
(collection, packaging, labelling and transportation) of hazardous waste.

SUK’s Quality Policy is the basis for achieving the objectives of the company. It remains constant and the implementation of the Quality Management System I based upon it. The company’s administration is committed to a persistent compliance and improving the effectiveness of the quality management of the company.

Everyone in the company are responsible for ensuring the commitment of the company to QUALITY while making a continuous effort to improve services.

The permanent goal and commitment is to harmonize the functioning of the company with the Greek legislation and the continuous improvement of the company through a process of determining the achievement of targets for quality and the improvement of the process in the company.

The company recognizes the importance of protecting the environment. In this direction a registered Environmental Management System has been set up, which complies to the requirements of the EN ISO 14001: 2004 standard, so that the services provided become more environmental friendly.

With this system, the company’s administration commits:

• To determine environmental performance characteristics for the services
provided
• To operate in accordance with the existing environmental laws and
regulations
• To develop operational procedures aimed at preventing environmental
pollution
• To progressively improve the level of environmental protection by reducing
waste generated from operating activities, promoting the recycling or reuse, and safe transportation and disposal of waste, through setting objectives and implementing programs.
• To set the information on its environmental performance to the availability of the company’s personnel, as well as any interested third party
• To minimize the likelihood of environmental incidents and to be able to deal with pollution arising from such an incident
• To working with suppliers, partners, customers to help them develop an interest in protecting the environment
• To promote the appropriate training to staff to ensure readiness to operate in line with the present environmental policy

SUK’s administration has the executive responsibility for the health and safety of its workers and is committed to act as required to improve the conditions and efficiency of health and safety, in order to ensure the protection of the life and health of all its workers, including subcontractors, suppliers, visitors and third parties entering the premises and construction sites of the company as defined by the relevant provisions and requirements of the Greek and European legislation. The health and safety of employees and associates was, is and will be the primary concern of the administration of SUK.

In order for SUK to achieve and maintain the policy of the OH&S complying to the standard ELOT 1801, adequate resources (manpower and equipment), the appropriate and trained staff with the necessary knowledge and understanding at all levels of the company are used. The administration provides all the means required for the training of the personnel in health and safety issues, allocation of responsibilities within the company, and incentives for the common participation to the minimization of the improper actions and working conditions, so that every employee involved in the processes of the company can help both on an individual as well as on a collective level to improve the working conditions.

The ultimate goal that SUK has set, is the execution of all required actions in the best quality and shortest time, without accidents or incidents that might have an adverse affect on human health. The health and safety of all parties, is a concern for all those involved in the activities of the company and depends mainly on ourselves.

The policy and objectives of SUK regarding the health and safety of workers must be applied by all employees on all levels of the company and all together recognizing the individual risks of their area of work, to help improve the performance of the Health & Safety at Work management system.

These commitments by SUK are reviewed annually, are available to any interested party, have been notified and have been understood by the company staff and its partners.
